You’ve probably all seen one of these by now; http://www.investorplace.com/2012/01/proof-kodak-was-doomed-14-years-ago/

Basically, here’s the way we understand it: Kodak is attempting to sell an imaging-related patent portfolio that is reportedly worth $2-3 billion. If it can execute this sale successfully, it could potentially avoid bankruptcy. But, there seems to be some discrepancy about whether or not Kodak can execute this sale without filing for bankruptcy first, due to potential creditor claims on the portfolio.

How this is going to affect the document imaging business or their service agreements is unclear.

From what we’ve read, Kodak would hope to emerge from bankruptcy as a printer-focused business, and with a former HP exec running the show, that makes sense. Of course, from our standpoint, printing is inexorably tied to document imaging, so it would make sense for Kodak to retain that part of its business as well.

That’s about all we know for now. Stay tuned.

Imaging 411 Launches Support and Value Pricing on Kodak Micrographics Maintenance Services

Long Island, N.Y., July 21, 2011—Imaging 411, a national service provider, has announced they will offer significant discounts on service pricing for Kodak micrographics and hybrid products in spite of the recent announcement by Eastman Park Micrographics regarding the acquisition of the Micrographics Unit from Eastman Kodak on April 5 of this year. The service discounts will apply to the entire line of Kodak hybrid products including the Digital Archive Writer (48xx & 96xx), Intelligent Microfilm scanners (IMS/i7300), DSV Reader Printers, and ProStar processors.

According to the President of Imaging 411, Gary Armstrong, “We see the acquisition of Kodak’s Micrographics unit by Eastman Park Micrographics as an opportunity to engage new resellers who are open to lower cost alternative service options without risking their long standing relationship with Kodak.

“There has been a lot of speculation and rumors concerning the impact the Eastman Park Micrographics acquisition will have on the cost and quality of service for Kodak’s micrographic products. We are confident that we can meet and exceed their customer expectations while providing even greater savings today.” stated Joe Paradiso, CEO of Imaging 411 Inc.

“Imaging 411 has delivered onsite, advanced exchange and depot support programs for document scanners and micrographics equipment from Canon, Eastman Kodak, ALOS and Minolta” ,according to Don McMahan, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “We have found our message of holding down costs to be extremely popular in the current economic environment and have made the decision to offer discounts well below Kodak list price for the rest of this year, in spite of the obviously higher fuel costs we are all seeing. The growth we are seeing in our business clearly shows customers are ready for change and ready to support the value proposition we deliver.”

Long Island, N.Y., May 10, 2011—Imaging 411, a national third party service provider, has announced they will hold the line on service pricing for document scanners in spite of the recent announcement by Eastman Kodak of across the board increases July 1 of this year.

According to President of Imaging 411, Gary Armstrong, “In this tight economy and especially for our struggling government customers, we think it is more important than ever to maintain the best possible value for the services we provide. Imaging 411 has been providing great service and great value since 2003 and we see no reason to change that now. “

“Imaging 411 has provided InStream a tool to offer our best customers an excellent value at a price point that has proven to be superior to the Kodak model. In this tough market our customers see the value and are making the decision to choose a proven value over an aging support model”, says Mark Hinson, CEO of Instream, a Nashville Value Added Reseller that specializes in document imaging solutions and hardware. “Kodak is a large organization, and one that we respect, but our customers are consistently choosing value over size, and we have been very pleased with the support Imaging 411 has delivered, especially to some of our national large accounts.”

“Imaging 411 delivers onsite, advanced exchange and depot support programs for document scanners from Canon, Fujitsu, Eastman Kodak, and Panasonic” ,according to Don McMahan, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “We have found our message of holding down costs to be extremely popular in the current economic environment and have made the decision to not raise any pricing for the rest of this year, in spite of the obviously higher fuel costs we are all seeing. The growth we are seeing in our business clearly shows customers are ready for change and ready to support the value proposition we deliver.”

Euro Touch Kiosks and Digital Signage

Hitachi HT-4139-II
At the show we will be showing the updated Hitachi HT-4139 scanner with a new look and USB 3.0 support that enables color scanning without any reduction in performance. Visit our booth for some new announcements regarding new ISV certifications for the intelligent desktop scanner and the updated Hitachi ISIS and TWAIN scanner drivers that improve document sorting capabilities, intelligent imprinting, and enhanced bi-tonal option for tri-stream output.

SunRise Imaging 3 in 1 Apollo HS Film Scanner
“The Apollo family uses a new bright, high efficiency, LED technology as the light source, replacing the traditional halogen lamp”, said Dennis Childs, President of SunRise Imaging, Inc. “The multiple advantages of the new LED based light and optics are: a highly focused lighting system with tenfold efficiency gain, the elimination of radiated heat to the microfilm, higher reliability, longer lamp life, and very low energy consumption”, he explained. According to Steven Godfrey, Managing Director of SunRise Imaging (EMEA) Ltd, UK, “what is so great about SunRise microfilm scanners is that their new innovations keep the existing customers in mind – like the modules compatibility with all base units since the inception of the company – the new LED based light system is also backward compatible with previous models. Customers with earlier models can readily take advantage of this exciting new capability without having to discard their investment”.

Another important milestone set by the Apollo microfilm scanners is the introduction of the new scanning application, “ScanFlo Premier”. The new application features dual operating modes: a new user friendly based wizard and the classic ScanFlo user interface. The wizard mode provides an easy to follow, step-by-step procedure that shields the complexity of microfilm scanning from a new user. The more experienced user and those who are already familiar with the SunRise scanners have the option of using the original classic mode. “It is like
getting two applications in one”, said Joe Paradiso, CEO Imaging 411, a leading US distributor and service provider of SunRise scanners.

Euro Touch Kiosks

Imaging 411 will be showcasing their new kiosks and digital signage product lines. We will have their newest “FlexiMidi” in the booth which is a universal terminal kiosk configurable for a wide range of user applications. The FlexiMidi has very slim lines, softened edges and a superior finish to ensure a first-call appearance. The front panel is customizable and interchangeable ro accommodate any and every customer requirement.

SimpleIndex 7.0
